At the end of the war, the Canadian Division was planned for “F” Corps, which was to replace the Marines on Kyushu in the first Quarter of 1946. Addition of the Commonwealth Corps would have likely resulted in two fewer U.S. divisions needed and one of the Corps listed above being sent to replace “F” Corps in Kyushu. A major advantage was that the corps was to be delivered to Japan by Royal Navy amphibious assets.

Further, this line up of divisions was contingent on OLYMPIC being accomplished with 14 divisions. If more were required, then many of these divisions would have been sent to Kyushu.

It should be noted that the planning for OLYMPIC and CORONET relied on a reinforcement rate of four divisions per month until the war was won.
